I have followed your instructions and apart from the two small configuration issues, my system now has a fully populated guide, for the first time in many months!!! I did have an issue with HD channels the day after setting up a scheduled task to run EPG Collector, but that was most probably due to Sutton Coldfield transmitter problems.
I am approximately m from the base of this mast and would you believe I have HD channel signal quality issues!! I do, and it has been something that occurs very randomly. I need to spend more time on resolving the matter and will, now MC is back to full functionality. I can only add one suggestion to InsaneNutter's instructions and that is, when setting up the scheduled task, use the 'Conditions button' and select 'Wake computer to run this task'.
My system 'suspends to RAM' S3 sleep state, which works for me and if your computer is similarly set up, the task can 'Wake' the computer to run it. I suspect these must have been supplied via the internet.

Not sure if I have the patience to go through all of the steps again. But I just wanted to commend you for putting this together. Incidentally, this message appeared on my screen Also, for some reason the update button does not show on my version. I may try again. For anyone else who is struggling, please post here and maybe we can help each other.
InsaneNutter , Feb 23, InsaneNutter I will give it a try. My approach to all technical issues is always PEBKAC in the first instance when I am trouble shooting so I am buoyed by the fact that the software does work and will figure it out. It only blocks the legit software lol. I am now making good progress and will resume the process tomorrow and follow your excellent instructions!
I bought 2 x 4 GB memory modules to upgrade memory up to 8 GB. With 8 GB installed, the laptop does not start, but he will start with 6 GB installed. Any ideas? It's set to update between and , but never did. Last edited by sambat; 6th Feb at Mine has been updating successfully and I did it again just now. But the ending date has remained I was also able to successfully manually update the program guides for OTA and cable on both PCs as of late this morning.
The guides went from under one day of listings left to 12 days. Do not agree to the guide listings and proceed 9. Now, the dreaded TV Setup Data download page With the PC attempting to shut down, you will get a warning from EPG about exiting without completing.
While that's happening, WMC may magically complete the download process. You can now proceed to setup your cablecard and get back into the EPG install process. Obviously, this is a bit wonky, but it's the only way I was able to get past the TV Setup Data download page. And this happened on multiple PCs yesterday.

Windows 8. Either way it's possible to obtain your own guide data with some effort for the initial setup, so in theory you could use Media Center indefinitely, or at least until the broadcast standards change again.
However given how long it took for analogue TV to be switch off I don't see that happening anytime soon. By then other applications with DRV functionality might have caught up to Media Center, I do like the look of Plex although the PVR support is only in beta and by far its weakest function at the moment.
Kodi is also "ok" however neither of them are anywhere near as polished Media Center, which hasn't been updated since ! Just goes to show how far ahead Microsoft were with it. InsaneNutter , Feb 8, I think MS are probably embarrassed by their failure to maintain the guide for all areas.
The difference I have found is that unlike your screen shot, I cannot exclude channels. There is no 'tick box' which results in me gathering far too much data and having a few duplicate channels when transferred into MC guide. Cannot see why this is, the 'clear',' include all' and 'exclude buttons all work. I have taken a screen shot to illustrate what I am seeing. Just search the web and found out that the solution to this is to disable 'visual themes' on computability tab of short cut properties!

Resolved my issue. Clear instructions. Easy to follow. No jargon. Pictures helped. Run the EPG Client setup 5. When it opens up the Live TV setup, proceed as normal until you get to the zip code entry 6. Disable your LAN while on the zip code entry 7. Enter for the zip and proceed 8. Do not agree to the guide listings and proceed 9. Now, the dreaded TV Setup Data download page With the PC attempting to shut down, you will get a warning from EPG about exiting without completing. Anyway, if anyone has any information on how to get my channel information to download, I'd appreciate it.
Obviously I'm not the only one who's having this problem. Since you used Media Center on Windows 7 you probably have more experience with setting it up than I do. Possibly redoing the setup process might help. Maybe updated drivers for the Tuner? I am using it to Record OTA signals in my local area. But one channel seems to separate the content from the schedule information and puts each on a different sub channel so I will not record.
This may not be your problem, but the Windows 8 Media Center does have some changes regarding content. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help.
Thanks for your feedback. I had the same trouble with tv setup and downloading info like the guide. I just skipped the guide and used the software that came with the tuner--Win TV that works OK on my old computer with win 8. I can manually change channels in Media Center if I use that. Results 1 to 9 of 9. Right now the guide ends at on , normally there is more than ten days.
Re-scanning for ota stations etc. Tried a different zip code, restoring the PC back to Jan 17 using an image to no avail. Forcing a guide update gets me mixed messages.
Included the event log which says there was an error while the information generated in the GUI says it was OK. Any help? Same problem here. Same listing end date and end time. If I find anything pertinent, I'll post.
Same here too.
